Eldon

9/10 What an amazing stout!  I’ve heard a lot of good things about Thornbridge brewery. A lot of beer geeks rate them towards the top of their Best Brewer lists. I’ve not come across much of their brews but that is going to change… Bourbon oak imperial stout This is a strong ale; thick and… Read more »

1872 Porter

7/10 Quite a nice smooth Porter.  It’s based in an old, you guessed it, recipe from 1872.  Dark ruby in colour. Bitter sweet taste of chocolate, fruit and hops.  I enjoyed it!  6.5%

Juicebox

6/10 Citrus IPA – probably the most fruity IPA I’ve tried. This beer is packed with tropical fruity flavours! “Fruity pleasure in a glass. Fresh orange zest and heaps of extremely aromatic hops give this beer bright, intense flavours of mango, papaya and bitter orange.” Very refreshing! Brewed in London by Fourpure Brewing Company. 5.9%

Pot Kettle Black

7/10 Lovely little porter! “Fresh and hoppy yet rich and black” It looks and tastes great! Yeastie Boys are a brewery from New Zeland and have some really interesting beers available. They are brewed in the UK by Brew Dog… who have some really interesting beers of their own! 6%

4/10 “Ale matured in whisky casks” The casks they used had Highland Park Scotch Whiskey in which is pretty smokey and sweet. Not one for me.  8%

Jasmine Green Tea

5/10 Yes… beer with green tea! This is a bit different and I enjoyed giving it a go. The green tea is a subtle flavour and not too overpowering. You can tell there is something different about the beer tho, not too dis-similar to the taste of a slice of lemon in your beer. Quite… Read more »

Spitfire Gold

8/10 What a lovely beer! Golden in colour. It has a pleasant malty taste with a soft bitter finish. Refreshing and biscuity.  2015 marked the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and 25 years since Spitfire Premium Kentish Ale was first brewed to commemorate The Few. A well-balanced, light golden ale, Spitfire Gold is… Read more »
