Unfiltered lager

6/10 Don’t be put off with the look. This may look like a can from the Tesco Value range but it’s actually a decent little beer!  Brewed in Germany – and they know their lagers! This is an unfiltered lager which means that’s retained much of the flavour and body that the brewer intended. This… Read more »

Go to IPA

8/10 Such a great IPA! It’s very hoppy but has a fruity smoothness to it. Goes down very well.  Stone use “hop bursting” which adds an “irrational amount of hops during the final stages of brewing bring out maximum flavours and aromas. Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier

8/10 What a fantastic wheat beer from one of the champions of Munich’s Oktoberfest.  The beer pours well with a fluffy head. Cloudy amber in colour. Best of all – it’s a big 500ml bottle! Paulaner are one of Munich’s big breweries. Great stuff! 5.5%

Warsteiner

2/10 This is a German pils (lager to us in the UK). I found it quite flat with little taste. Wouldn’t recommend.

5/10 Lager lovers… This is one for you.  Brewed in Germany and brought all the way over to your local Aldi (or maybe it was Lidl). It has a mild hoppyness and a slightly malty taste.  5%

Frankenheim Alt

6/10 Alt Bier (or Old Beer) is a style of German beer that I discovered on Dusseldorf. Their Old Town is a fantastic venue for a pub crawl and has it’s own brewery-pubs! So these breweries in Old Town call their style of beer, Old Beer. This is because it’s some traditional recipe that’s hundreds… Read more »
