Now then. Now, then!
I must admit that this has been on my Beer Shelf for a number of months. It arrived as part of a beer box (thanks Beer Hawk!) and the name put me off. “Milk shake”, I want hops and malt and bitterness! Give me beer!! Milk shake will definitely not bring this boy to the yard. A nice Belgian Blonde however…
Anyway, it’s a Sunday night. Kids are finally in bed. Sat down with aching legs after a long weekend and thought I’d treat myself to something different. And boy am I glad I did!
This beer is so black you can’t see through it. It looks like ink! It’s thick and smooth, velvety and soft. There is a slight bitterness to the initial taste with a sweeter finish. Very flavoursome: chocolate, malt, vanilla. Bit of a Desert Beer maybe.
Milk stouts are brewed with sugar from cows milk to give the beer a sweet, creamy tone.
I will definitely buy this again!
Recommend to anyone who likes Guinness or strong dark beers.
